Method 2: Recovery Mode

Use recovery mode if your iPhone X still does not work after trying Method 1. This method helps resolve the issue if it’s due to a software problem.

Step 1: Open iTunes

Connect your iPhone X to your computer using your Lightning cable and then open iTunes.

Step 2: Force Restart Your iPhone X

Force restart your iPhone X using the steps described in Method 1.

Step 3: Restore or Update

In this step, you have the option to either restore or update your iPhone.

The difference between the two is that restoring will delete the previous data you have on your phone and will install the latest version of the iOS.

On the other hand, updating will still keep your phone’s content and settings while also upgrading to the latest software.

Once you have completed the update or restore option, follow the next instructions found on the screen to set up your iPhone.

Method 3: Use Assistive Touch to Restart Your iPhone X

Use this method if your volume up/down and side buttons do not work.

Step 1: Turn on Assistive Touch.

Go to Settings > General > Accessibility to turn on the Assistive Touch feature.

Method 4: Turn to a Professional

If your iPhone X can’t restart even after trying the first three methods, it’s most likely because of a hardware problem.

The iPhone X was said to be the most fragile and breakable iPhone yet. Because of this, you should invest in a warranty program like AppleCare, which addresses your phone’s hardware, software, and other technical needs.

AppleCare+ for the iPhone extends your warranty coverage from one year into two years, and you receive access to Apple experts that can address your concerns.
