We have been hearing (and waiting) about the high-end iPhone models’ production in India for quite some time now. Amidst various rumors, the recent report finally seems to confirm on a specific time.

According to a report by the Economic Times, Foxconn will commence the production of the iPhone X in July this year, at Foxconn’s plant in Sriperumbudur town in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

The production of iPhones in India will begin with the iPhone X and is expected to be followed by the iPhone XS and the XS Max, along with the upcoming iPhone models.

Foxconn will begin with the iPhone X (range) from the Chennai plant. The plans are to step up production capacity and diversify to even higher models going forward,” said an official close to the news.

For those who don’t know, Apple began producing iPhones in India with the iPhone SE, followed by the iPhone 6S and the iPhone 7, all manufactured by Wistron in Bengaluru.

The “Made In India” iPhones will result in lesser prices of the high-end iPhones and more job opportunities for people in the country.

The production will result in more users in India, which is the second largest and fastest growing mobile market in the world.

We hope the news turns out to be true and we can finally take a sigh of relief for not spending a fortune on iPhones!
